I bite my tongue bloody
keeping it all to myself
not saying what I want to say…
Continually shushed and silenced
because I say too much…
So much I want to say
but I just bite my tongue bloody
my mouth filling with rust and copper
I keep myself from forming the words
Chew my lips raw and split
muffling sound. My unruly mouth
choking back the words.
I can’t speak what’s in my heart
I can’t say it because no one will hear
So I just bite my tongue bloody and smile.
